Girls gain representative honours

Congratulations to Sam Todd, Emma McMurray and Sophie Hinds who have been selected for the NCU Senior Women’s Squad for the series next week against Jersey. Well done from everyone at Pollock Park.

Ladies lose out in cup semi

Lurgan Ladies lost out to CSNI in an entertaining Senior Cup semi-final at Pollock Park on Sunday. Lurgan batted first and good innings by Sarah McCallan(28), Sophie Hinds (25no) and Emma McMurray (21) saw the home side complete their 20 overs on 113 for 2 wkts.  In reply, the CSNI innings got off to a slow start. However a solid 2nd wicket partnership by Thomas (44) and Rountree (25no) plus a few missed catches steered the visitors into a winning position. A late flurry of wickets for the Lurgan girls wasn’t enough as the CSNI passed the Lurgan score with 5 wickets in hand to meet Waringstown in the final.

Poor batting display by 1sts

A poor batting display by the 1sts saw them lose their penultimate match in the Robinsons Rose bowl league by 21 runs at Cook Collegians on Saturday. Lurgan had restricted the home side to 109 for 9 wickets in their 20 overs with Iqbal Khan and Junior Nelson each taking 2 wkts for 13 and Callum Gibson 2 for 22.. In reply, the town side started promisingly with over 40 put on for the first wicket between Stephen Johnston and Stephen Chambers in just over 5 overs. However the rest of the batting were unable to capitalise on the start and began to fall behind the required run rate with the innings finally ending on 88 all out in the 19th over.

2nds beaten at home

The 2nds went down by 30 runs to Waringstown IV’s at Pollock Park on Friday night in their league match. A good bowling performance was followed by a poor batting display with the town side dismissed for 62 chasing the villagers score of 92 for 6. Jack Maxwell took 1wk for 12 runs, Callum Grieve 1 for 14, Emma McMurray 1 for 17, Iqbal Khan 1 for 21 and Quasam Mohammed 0 for 24, each bowling 4 overs each. Mark McShane was the only Lurgan batsman to get into double figures scoring 27 as the home side were bowled out in the 19th over.

Ladies lose local derby

Lurgan Ladies lost their first league game of the season today to local rivals Waringstown at the Lawn by 6 wickets. Sophie Hinds top scored again with 33 and there were runs for Emma McMurray (24) and Sarah McCallen (18) as Lurgan scored 107 for 3 wkts. In reply it was Charlotte Lyons who dominated the batting for the villagers hitting 34 as they passed the Lurgan total in the 17th over to clinch the points. Chloe Neville was the pick of the Lurgan bowlers taking 2 wkts for 25 while there was a wicket each for Emma McMurray (1 for 14 ) and Cara Rainey (1 for 34).
