Record numbers at Golf Classic

On a beautiful sunny day, over 100 golfers took part in the Alan Johnston Memorial Golf Classic at Lurgan Golf Club last weekend. And it was Greg Crawford who was the overall winner and became the first recipient of the Alan Johnston Memorial Trophy kindly presented by John Henry .  A total of 41 points and a better back nine just edged Callum Cunningham into 2nd place, with Callum collecting the McDowell Cup for highest placed clubman. In third place was Gareth Morrison with 40 points.

Fiona Cummins  hit 35 points to win the Ladies competition with Diane Patterson finishing second on 32 points, a better back nine just beating Julie Jordan into third place.

The men’s team event was won by Paul Lyness, Alan Woods, Callum Cunningham and Tony Whan while Sian Mulholland, Orla O’Dowd and Fiona Cummins claimed the Ladies team prize.

‘Longest drive’ winners were Greg Crawford and Sian Mulholland while Alan Hamilton and Derek Johnston won the ‘nearest the pin’ prizes.

At the start of the presentations, Alan Woods presented the Alan Johnston Tigers Memorial Cup to Peter Maxwell for the clubman who most epitomises the characteristics and attitude  of Alan towards sport.

Lurgan Rugby Football and Cricket Club  would like to thank all at Lurgan Golf Club for their help and co-operation in staging the event.
