U11’s lose, U15’s win, Ladies game abandoned

There were three games played, or attempted to be played by teams this week.

At Pollock Park on Monday night the Tigers U11’s lost to Lisburn by 36 runs. Lisburn set a total of 104 in their 20 overs with Lurgan finishing on 68 for 7 wkts with Aidan Lang top scoring on 30 retd.

On Thursday night the Ladies game against Waringstown got started, but ended early when heavy rain brought proceedings to an end.

On the Wednesday night the Tigers U15’s travelled to Laurelvale and won by 9 wkts. Batting first Laurelvale scored 104 for 6 wickets in their 20 overs. Harry Long was the pick of the Lurgan bowlers taking 2 wkts for just 4 runs in his 4 overs.  Peter Hutchinson had 2 for 12 in 3 overs and there was a wicket each for John Woods and Ryan Irvine.

After losing Harry Long for 6 runs, Conor Rankin and John Woods did not waste any time in chasing down the home sides score. They passed the target with the first ball of the 10th over with Conor finishing on 50 not out, an innings that included 8 fours and a 6, while John’s innings included 7 fours and a 6 as he finished on 42 not out, despite having broken a finger fielding during the Laurelvale innings. It was a good performance by the Tigers and they can now look forward to their next game which is against an Indian touring team at Pollock Park next Wednesday night.
