Ladies cruise to first league win

An undefeated half century by Hannah Grieve helped Lurgan Ladies cruise to a 10 wicket win against Muckamore  in the NCU Women’s Premier League at Pollock Park last weekend.

Batting first, Muckamore were soon in trouble against the bowling of Alex Craig and Lois Lyttle. Alex got the initial breakthrough in the second over with Lois claiming a wicket in her third over. Alex took  further two wickets in her third over leaving her with figures of 3 wkts for just 9 runs in 3 overs with Lois finishing with one wicket for 15. Sarah McCallan also claimed a 3 wicket haul for 15 runs while Hannah Grieve chipped in with 1 for 9 off her three overs.

Chasing a total of 93 runs for victory, Lurgan openers Hannah Grieve and Lois Lyttle were soon among the runs. Both girls were undefeated with Hannah retiring on 50 not out, an innings that included 4 fours and a six. Lois was joined by Sarah McCallan and they passed the Muckamore total in the 13th over with Lois finishing on 18 no and Sarah 11 not out.

Lurgan’s next game is on Sunday 5th June away to Muckamore in the 1st round of the NCU Cup.
