Ladies lose local derby

On Sunday past the Ladies Team played Waringstown at Pollock Park. Like any game with two local teams, both teams came out raring to go with Lurgan bowling first. Lurgan started strong and worked hard as a team throughout the game. Bowling highlights included E McMurray 1-16, S Todd 1-24 with some great bowling by S McCollum also. However, Waringstown continued throughout the game to bat well and take their chances with C Lyons 66no and Waringstown finishing 142-3.
The next innings was Lurgan batting. Again, some fine batting was displayed with Lurgan putting the pressure on by the half-way point. A good steady partnership was formed in the batting with E McMurray 41no and S Hinds scoring 17. Lurgan continued to score well however a few quick wickets and catches by Waringstown sealed their victory over the line with Lurgan finishing 122-7.
Lurgan will meet Waringstown again on Sunday 25th July in the first round of the Women’s Challenge Cup at the Lawns in which will no doubt be another entertaining game between the two sides. All support is welcome for the girls.
