1st XI still without a win

Four matches into the 2018 season and Lurgan 1stXI are still without a league win. There were heavy defeats to Derriaghy and Woodvale in their first two games, while a total of 220 scored away to Holywood, inspired by a century from new signing Rohit Karanjkar, was passed by the home side with Lurgan spilling 5 dropped catches. A good bowling display against Laurelvale in their most recent game kept them in contention in a re-arranged 20 over game, after a poor batting display saw them dismissed for just 77.  Hower the villagers passed the total in the 18th over.

Hannah century paves way for derby win

An undefeated century by Hannah Grieve paved the way for an emphatic 97 run win for Lurgan Ladies in the opening game in their Premier League defence. Supported by Samantha  Todd and Jane Kilpatrick, the town side amassed 211 for the loss of just 1 wicket in their 25 overs.

Section 1 status confirmed

Lurgan’s Section 1 status was confirmed at the weekend despite a 49 run 20/20 defeat at home to Woodvale on Saturday morning. Bangor’s 63 run win over Cliftonville the next day condemned the Belfast side to Section 2 cricket along with Academy.

Ladies win Challenge Cup to complete double

Lurgan Ladies added the Challenge Cup to the League Champions Cup after a thrilling 5 run win over North Down in the final at Pollock Park on Sunday to cap a wonderful season. Hannah Grieve led the Lurgan team to victory as the skipper hit yet another superb undefeated half century. The game had to be switched to one of the new artificial wickets at Pollock Park and North Down put the Lurgan girls into bat on winning the toss. Ladies win off last ball

A dramatic last ball win saw Lurgan Ladies maintain their unbeaten run in the NCU Women’s Premier League. Having retired on 50 not out, Hannah Grieve had to return to the crease as the champions 9th wicket fell to add another 10 to her score as along with Emma McMurray, both girls saw the home team to victory.
